Advancing Member Value: ACEC Ohio’s Committee Review Task Force Sets a Clear Path Forward
As the ACEC Ohio Board continues advancing its strategic plan, it approved the Committee Review Task Force’s recommendations this month, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to delivering measurable value to members.
The Task Force confirmed ACEC Ohio’s three engagement structures—Committees, Forums, and Task Forces—creating definitions for each. Together, these structures ensure members have clear pathways to participate, lead, and influence the engineering industry across Ohio.
Based on its review, the Task Force recommended consolidating three committees, establishing one new committee, and transitioning one committee into a forum. The Task Force reiterated that committees are expected to establish measurable goals, report progress regularly, and maintain strong connections with agencies, stakeholders, and partner organizations. Notable recommendations include:
- Refocusing and renaming committees to align with core advocacy and market sectors, such as Environment & Water and Member Engagement.
- Creating a new Business Resources/Education Committee to support relevant, timely professional development.
- Consolidating functions related to communications, diversity, and inclusion into broader committees to improve coordination and outcomes.
- Aligning workforce initiatives under a strengthened Workforce Development Committee, with scholarships positioned as a targeted subcommittee.
This work positions ACEC Ohio for continued growth and relevance. I encourage our members to join a committee, participate in a forum, or volunteer for a task force—your engagement strengthens our collective impact and enhances the value delivered to member companies.
Wishing you a joyous holiday season,
~Beth
