Message From Beth -- May 24, 2023

On May 15-16th, ten ACEC Ohio members flew to Washington DC to take part in the first ACEC Ohio Fly-In. Working with ACEC Vice President of Political Affairs, Dave Bender, invitations to six Ohio Congressional members were extended to discuss issues impacting the industry.  Using the ACEC townhouse located on Capitol Hill, Congressional members were able to stop by on their own time Monday evening and Tuesday morning.  The group enjoyed time with Congresswomen Beatty and Kaptur along with Congressmen Balderson, Carey, Latta and Joyce.  Key issues discussed included the R&D tax amortization repeal, workforce development needs, the debt ceiling and implementation of the infrastructure bill.  We reiterated to the members that ACEC Ohio is a resource to them on these issues. The one-on-one time with Ohio’s Congressional members was invaluable and the group felt positive that these members now know more about our industry and issues.  In the end, the first DC fly in was a success, we enjoyed quality time with our Congressional members as well as our colleagues!
