ACEC Ohio COVID-19 Updates

Stay at Home Order Extended to May 1st by Governor Dewine

Governor DeWine announced that Ohio will be extending the current Stay at Home Order through May 1st.  As Director Acton anticipates, based on the current modeling being provided, that the “peak” of COVID19 cases will occur sometime between April 15th and May 15th.  Ohioans are doing a good job to minimize exposure and the Governor feels this must continue so that Ohio avoids the overcrowding situations at hospitals that are occurring in New York now.  If we hit the peak earlier or number of cases are lower than expected, the Governor may modify this new Order.

A few other modifications to the existing order the Governor announced, he is creating a Dispute Resolution Panel (of 3 cabinet members) for businesses that feel they are be treated differently than their counterparts in other counties.

The Governor also said the new Order will also attempt to address the issue of overcrowding in some retail establishments.  The Order will require retail businesses to establish a maximum number of people allowed in stores, and establish safe distancing requirements within these establishments (6 foot rule).  The state is not imposing any maximum number, but rather asking each retail establishment to set this number based on their stores configurations.

People traveling to Ohio are being asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.  Exceptions to this will be people living on the border and going over state lines for work.

While campgrounds and public pools will remain closed, state parks will remain open as long as park personal are able to remain safe distancing on trails, and avoiding congregating.  Local parks are asked to follow these same standards.  All organized sports are prohibited.
