ACEC Ohio Committees Working Hard

The new OFCC A/E RFQ a result of work by the State Public Works Committee

Recent committee activity:

  • Communications Committeerecent projects include working to draft a strategic brief in order to communicate the benefits of ACEC Ohio in correlation with the Chapter Integration process. The Committee also assisted in the creation of a Member Survey which will be released at the June 14thAnnual Meeting in conjunction with electronic distribution. Lastly, the committee began initial planning to share the importance of the PAC programs at ACEC Ohio.

  • Environment & Energy Committee—hosted Ms. Laura Factor, Assistant Director Ohio EPA and staff.  ACEC Ohio's comments on OEPA's proposed changes regarding the Construction General Permit Rules were also reviewed and discussed. The Committee thanked John Pierko for serving as Chair for a third year in a row, Rick Fitch from B&N and Dave Richards from Hull & Associates volunteered to serve as chair and vice chair next year.

  • Government Affairs Committeemet recently to discuss new legislation as well as monitored bills. Among the new legislation discussed were SB 293, requiring agencies to reduce the number of regulator restrictions,  SB299/HB 643 funding provisions for Lake Erie and improved water quality and  SJR/HR 16, allowing the ability to issue general obligation bonds to fund clean water.  The ACEC Ohio indemnification bill,  HB 554  had proponent testimony in the House Civil Justice Committee, click here for more information.

  • Political Action Committeeheld strategic discussions with both gubernatorial campaigns, partnering on an event with the DeWine/Husted campaign on April 23, 2018 and with the  Cordray/Sutton Campaign to be held on June 14, 2018. Also, agreeing to sponsor a gubernatorial forum on July 10 in conjunction with the Ohio Association of Regional Councils. In a joint effort with the ACEC Ohio Southwest Chapter, a regional PAC event is scheduled on August 9th at TopGolf in West Chester, Ohio. The Northwest regional PAC event will take place this fall.
  • State Public Works Committee – discussed the EDGE program and how it is being administered across agencies and reviewed the new A/E RFQ presented by OFCC. This new RFQ is a product of the joint ACEC Ohio/AIA Liaison Committee with OFCC. The use of the new form for OFCC projects has started with all new projects and OFCC  is encouraging its use for other owners. This joint liaison committee meets quarterly with the top staff at OFCC to discuss such issues as contracts, EDGE requirements and insurance limits. To see the revised RFQ, click here.
