ACEC Ohio participates in ODOT Civil Rights Symposium

DBE/ACEC Ohio Matchmaker event being planned

Civil Rights Symposium

ACEC Ohio was proud to participate in the first annual ODOT Civil Right Symposium led by the ODOT Division of Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion (ODI). Beth Easterday served as a judge for the Ohio Transportation Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awards and helped to announce the following award winners:

  • Director’s Award for Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy-  Mark Grdina, Vice President Great Lakes Construction Company
  • DBE Contractor of the Year- Price Builders, Cleveland, Ohio
  • DBE Consultant of the Year- G. Stephens, Akron, Ohio
  • Prime Contractor of the Year- Brumbaugh Construction, Arcanum, Ohio
  • Prime Consultant of the Year- Prime A/E Group, Columbus, Ohio
  • Local Public Agency of the Year- Cuyahoga County Public Works
  • Transit System of the Year- Perry County Transit
  • Business Development—Great Lakes Construction Company

ODI was created to promote diversity and provide equitable opportunities among ODOT employees and business partners—especially small and disadvantaged businesses. As the state’s largest provider of roadway construction work, ODOT is committed to diversity and equal opportunity for two primary reasons: it’s important for a healthy business environment in Ohio and, quite simply, it’s the right thing to do.

ACEC Ohio is working with ODI to introduce DBE firms to engineering consulting firms, a “match-maker” event is in the planning stages with a tentative date of June 7, 2017. As ODI continues the planning and details are forthcoming, we will keep you updated.
