Inside Look at the Communications Committee

Committees are where members come together to address industry challenges and opportunities. The recently formed Communications Committee has been tasked to develop and implement an Outreach and Communications Program informing the Engineering Community of ACEC Ohio’s mission, benefits and importance in leading the promotion and protection of engineering in the State of Ohio and nationally.

The committee has a dedicated team who have met three times since late spring 2016 and is plowing through the items on its work plan.

The committee has:

  • Created social media accounts LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter
  • Conducted a survey to determine the most effective methods to communicate with the membership
  • Been working on the Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition including judges and a host
  • Been tasked to develop an elevator speech based on the Council’s mission after the Strategic Plan
  • Created communications liaisons within each chapter and is developing their role
  • Developed drafts of Social Media Policy, Communications Plan and Editorial Calendar which are under review
  • Established the ACEC Ohio website as the primary ACEC Ohio information resource
