 Jon Husted Headshot

Text Box: Ohio Lieutenant Governor Candidate Jon Husted

Elected Secretary of State in 2010, Jon was re-elected in 2014 by a margin of 24 points and won 86 of Ohio’s 88 counties. Prior to beginning in public service, Jon worked with the Dayton-Area Chamber of Commerce and served as its Vice President for Economic Development. He was later elected to the Ohio House of Representatives where his Republican colleagues twice selected him to serve as Speaker of the House.

As Secretary of State, Jon has employed nearly 40 percent fewer government staff than his predecessor and has reduced his office’s spending by 16 percent – even as overall state spending increased by 17 percent. In his first term alone, he cut his budget by $14.5 million. This allowed him to cut the cost of starting and maintaining a new business in Ohio by 21 percent and, most recently, announce he has eliminated his office’s need for taxpayer dollars entirely for the remainder of his term. As House Speaker, Jon led the passage of the most conservative state budget in 40 years, which included at the time, the largest income tax cut in Ohio’s history.

Jon Husted is the only Ohio statewide elected official to have ever earned an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA). As House Speaker, he spearheaded the passage of comprehensive reform to Ohio’s concealed carry laws in order to protect law-abiding gun owners and put criminals on notice that their victims may not be defenseless. After the bill was vetoed, Jon stood up to the governor – of his own party – and courageously led the House’s vote to override the veto.

Napoli Joe 199x300

Joe Napoli

President & CEO, Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club, Toledo Walleye Hockey Club and Hensville

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Joe graduated from St. John’s University in New York City.  Upon graduation, he joined Manufacturer’s Hanover Trust in New York City.  After a brief career in banking, Joe’s twenty-five year career in sports began in Canton Ohio, with the Canton Indians.  In the early 90’s, he moved to Toledo to work for the Toledo Mud Hens before spending several years working for the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Tigers.  Joe returned to Toledo to embark on the development of Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo.  Years later, a second opportunity presented itself, and he became part of the development team for the Toledo Walleye and Huntington Center.  In 2012, the Hens initiated efforts to begin the downtown Toledo re-development of three historic buildings and park space which will become known as “Hensville.”

According to Nielsen Scarborough Research, the Hens and Walleye continue to rank amongst the most popular franchises in Major and Minor League sports.  Sports Business Journal selected Toledo as the #1, now #2, Market in America for Minor League sports. Both the Hens and Walleye have been recognized and awarded for organizational excellence by Minor League Baseball and Minor League Hockey.

Food and refreshments sponsored by ACEC Ohio Northwest Chapter.
