First Annual ACEC Ohio Scholarships Awarded

ACEC Ohio’s mission is to contribute to America’s prosperity and welfare by advancing the business interests of members firms. This year we received a total of 30 applicants for the 2019 ACEC Ohio Scholarship! Four scholarships were awarded to students throughout Ohio totaling $2,500 each.

The recipients of the 2019 ACEC Ohio Scholarship were recognized at the Engineering Excellence Awards hosted on Thursday, March 14.

Karlie Clark is a Senior at The University of Cincinnati getting her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Karlie has consulting engineer work experience through Woolpert where she worked as a co-op. She was an Engineering Designer which included producing structural drawings, reviewing submittals, participating in design/client meetings and preforming calculations for design. Other work experience that Karlie has includes working at The University of Cincinnati where she assists in the construction and design of pre-stressed concrete beams as an undergraduate assistant.

Kristen Ott is a Senior at The University of Toledo getting her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering. Kristen has work experience in consulting engineering through Boston Scientific where she was the Product Development Co-Op (Coatings and Electrospinning). Her duties included running validation tests on coating processes and exploring new materials to us in electrospinning. Other work experience Kristen has is at the University of Toledo where she was a peer leader where she guided students through a supplementary chemistry course. Kristen also was a Product – Development co-op at Zimmer Biomet where she worked on specialty instruments for surgeons.

Kayli Senedak is a 4+1 student at Cleveland State University. She will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in May. Followed by a Master of Science with a focus in Transportation Engineering in 2020. Kayli has work experience in consulting engineering through ODOT as a construction intern where she would record pay items, devise a system to keep track of concrete cylinders, calculation verification, draft hand drawn details, draft as-built drawings and inspection.

Megan Patterson is a graduate student at The Ohio State University and getting her Master of Science in Civil Engineering. She currently has her BS in Environmental Engineering from the Ohio State University that she received in 2017. Megan has work experience in consulting engineering through Stantec Consulting Services, Inc. where she is an environmental EIT. Her time at Stantec Consulting Services is spent assisting with design development, construction management and regulatory compliance. Her other work experience includes Proctor & Gamble where she ensured health, safety and environmental compliance at North American manufacturing plants.
